The signature Elling
At just under 50 feet, the Elling E4 combines transatlantic heritage, shallow-draft versatility and remarkably generous living spaces in a yacht designed to be comfortably handled by its owners.
E4 overview
The E4 is the fullest expression of the original under-15-meter Elling brief: build an ocean-capable production motor yacht that can cross the Atlantic, run inland waterways and remain warm, quiet and reassuring in difficult conditions. Three standard E4s proved the concept by crossing from the Canary Islands to St. Maarten.
Its extra length over the E3 is concentrated where owners feel it most—in the aft deck and full-beam owner's stateroom—while retaining the same manageable beam, shallow draft and bridge-friendly profile. The result is a true long-range home afloat that does not demand a professional crew.
Why the E4
A production E4 completed a controlled 360-degree capsize and returned upright under its own design—an extraordinary public demonstration of the concept.
Ocean Category A construction meets a 4 ft draft and 11 ft 4 in lowered-mast clearance for unusually broad cruising freedom.
Compared with the E3, the E4 adds approximately four feet to the aft deck and owner's stateroom without increasing beam or draft.
Cruise economically at displacement speed or select higher-power propulsion for the ability to run in the high teens when timing or weather matters.
Double glazing, exceptional insulation, soft-mounted propulsion and supportive seating make long days underway noticeably calmer.
An optional wing engine with separate fuel, propulsion and starting systems protects against more than a simple main-engine failure.

Single-shaft main propulsion provides efficiency, accessible maintenance and favorable machinery weight distribution.
Current engine choices can include Volvo Penta and Cummins packages from economical displacement power through approximately 600 hp.
Aquadrive separates propeller thrust from the engine and supports very soft engine mounts for lower noise and vibration.
Optional 30 hp independent auxiliary propulsion provides get-home capability through a dedicated saildrive and folding propeller.
Life aboard
The raised helm provides commanding visibility with protected companion seating, opening forward and aft glass and a large electrically operated sunroof.
The salon is bright and generous enough for extended living, while the separate galley keeps full-size cooking and refrigeration secure underway.
The full-beam aft suite benefits most from the E4's added length, with a walk-around queen berth, extensive storage and an available private bathroom.
Forward and side cabins can be configured for family, guests, office work or cruising equipment without sacrificing the owner's suite.
